Take a moment to consider this: You wake one morning and your phone charger doesn’t work or you lost it!  What to do!  You head to a local convenience store for your daily Red Bull and sitting on the shelf at checkout you see a charger that you need, for 2 bucks.  Woot! Score!

Chargers and accessories that are available cheaply in most cases likely ignore safety standards completely for the sake of a quick buck. You’re putting your phone, home, car, and more importantly, yourself at risk. Remember chargers have 110 volts internally when plugged into a household outlet.

While you can buy a charger that looks just like an Apple charger for about $2 but the charger manufacturer put most of the cost into the presentation and not the components.  You then connect your phone, complete with a rechargeable lithium ion battery, to a counterfeit electrical device.

Seems like a good idea, right?

I have a least one customer a week with shorted chips, capacitors, and resistors on their iPhone due to using $5.00 charging equipment bought at a local convenience store, flea market, mall kiosk, or online.  This is a costly repair both in time and money as it takes about 4 days to complete repair.
